Borderline and Beyond: Nine Years Later and A New Diagnosis
I recently had a neuropsychological evaluation done. The good news is that “borderline personality features are absent.” I continue witnessing to my emotions, practicing “mindfulness,” using good coping skills. To me, this is what has assured that I’ve had no resurgence of symptoms. The challenging news was that I received the diagnosis of non-verbal learning disability, also called NLD or NVLD. NLD is a neurological disability indicative of right brain hemisphere dysfunction. I have had this syndrome all my life, and I will always have it. There is no “recovery.” But, this is beginning to be okay with me.
